Greene Township, Ohio - Mary Evelyn McNeely, age 84, died on Thursday, January 23, 2025. She was born on November 7, 1940, in Bristolville, Ohio, the daughter of Wilma Evelyn (Frye) and Bernie Perry Brewster. Mary was a 1958 graduate of Bloomfield High School and a longtime area resident. She was a bookkeeper for KMART in Denver, Colorado, and for A.J. Clothing in Cortland, Ohio. On November 29, 1958, she married Rufus "Rick" McNeely and was a devoted military wife for over forty-seven years. Mary attended the Greene Church of the Nazarene and enjoyed doing sudoku puzzles, counted cross stitch, and riding motorcycles. She loved watching her birds, ensuring that she always had bird feed to keep them fed all winter long. Following the death of her husband Rick, Mary was the companion of Jack Dean Carter for sixteen years until his death on November 3, 2022. She is also preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Rufus R. McNeely, Jr.; and her brother, William E. Brewster. Survivors include her four children, Sharee E. McNeely of Aurora, Colorado, Richard R. McNeely of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Rodney R. (Tracy) McNeely of Gustavus, Ohio, and Robert R. (Teresa) McNeely of Jonesboro, Georgia; her brother, Charles E. Brewster of Munfordville, Kentucky; nine grandchildren, Heather, Ashley, Dustin, Melissa, Tiffany, Michelle, Tyler, and Shawna; and fourteen great-grandchildren, Hayden,

Scarlett, Colton, Addison, Parker, Ashley, Uriah, Swayze, Landon, Holden, Bowie, Nevaeh, Tatum, and Barrett. Private services were held and burial was in Greenlawn Cemetery, Greene, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, 5755 Granger Road, STE 905, Independence, OH, 441311. Baumgardner Funeral & Cremation Service of Kinsman handled the arrangements.
