Mary Janice Mieczynski

1951-2025

It is with great sadness that the family of Mary Janice Mieczynski announces her passing on December 1, 2025. She passed away peacefully with her daughter, Sarah, by her side. Born in 1951 in Shiocton, Wisconsin, Mary grew up on her family farm alongside her thirteen brothers and sisters. It was there, amidst the busyness of a large, loving family, that she developed the Midwest values that defined her life: kindness, hard work, and a tireless spirit of service. Mary eventually made St. Augustine, Florida, her home for many years. She enjoyed a long and fulfilling career as a radiologist with the Veterans Affairs (VA), dedicating her professional life to the care of those who served. It was at the VA that Mary met the love of her life, Allen Mieczynski. They shared a deep bond and a beautiful marriage of 44 years until Allen's passing. Mary's life was a testament to selfless devotion. For many years, she served as the primary caregiver for both her husband, Allen, and her son, Anthony, pouring her strength and heart into their comfort and well-being. She gave of herself without hesitation, proving that her kindness was not just a trait, but a true calling. Despite the challenges of caregiving, Mary remained the "sweetest soul"-a beautiful person inside and out who was always smiling and remarkably positive. She was the heart of her family, finding her greatest joy in the presence of her children and grandchildren. She loved the peace of the beach, the simple excitement of her "lotto," and the warmth of a house full of love and laughter.

She is survived by her children: Sarah, Anthony, and Florence; and her six cherished grandchildren: Mariana, Gabriel, Michael, Evelyn, Logan, and Violet.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Allen.

A graveside service was held at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at Jacksonville National Cemetery, where she was laid to rest with her husband. Mary's legacy of unconditional love and her resilient, kind-hearted spirit will be forever remembered & missed by all who were blessed to know her.
