Mary Catherine Hanson, affectionately known as Molly, passed away peacefully in the company of her daughters on November 11, 2025, in Bakersfield, CA, at the age of 96. Born on November 29, 1928, Molly dedicated her life to her family and her faith.
She nurtured a large, loving family, leaving behind a legacy through her six daughters and five sons-in-law: Kathy (Carlos) Angelini, Lynette (John) Coleman, Paula (Matt) Roy, Renee (Keith) Powell, Suzanne (Tim) Beard, and Juliet Scrivano. She also leaves behind 20 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren who will miss her deeply. Molly is survived by her sister, Mary Patricia Rempe. She was preceded in death by her husband, Malcolm of 55 years, and brother, Spud Murphy.
Molly was actively involved and a devout member of St. Francis Catholic Church, where she regularly attended Mass.
The family invites friends and loved ones to join in commemorating Molly's life. A Rosary will be held on Monday, November 17, 2025, at 9:30 AM, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 AM at St. Francis Catholic Church, located at 900 H Street, Bakersfield, CA 93304. Burial will immediately follow at Hillcrest Cemetery, 9101 Kern Canyon Road. A reception will be held at Monji Gardens, 9401 Shellabarger Road, to celebrate Molly's life and legacy.
The family would like to especially thank the caregivers at The Gables Residential Care, Hoffman Hospice, and Dr. Del Toro for their loving care and compassion.
