Mary V. Morton, 87, formerly of Corry, PA, passed away on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at Carriage Hill Retirement, Bedford, VA.
She was born on October 6, 1938, in Corry, PA, a daughter of the late Arthur A. Smith and Eva (Snow) Thompson.
Mary was raised and educated in Corry and graduated from Corry Area High School in 1956. After high school, she married and started a family. Her main priority was raising and caring for her family.
She was a past member of Columbus Community Congregational Church, where she was a Sunday school and Bible school teacher. Mary enjoyed gardening, sewing, crafts and making cards with Stamping Up friends. She also loved spending time outside at the farm where Emory and she lived for many years, even hosting Holiday weekend camping at their pond with friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Emory L. Morton, whom she married on June 15, 1957, in North East, PA; son, Randall E. Morton; sister, Arlene Rigby; brother, David Smith and half-brother, John Thompson.
Mary is survived by a daughter, Bonnie Morton (Ray Schrider) of Moneta, VA; daughter-in-law, Kristal Morton of Ephrata, PA; sisters, Jean (Frank) Puckly of Corry, PA and Geraldine Wygant of Erie, PA and half-brother, Frederick (Bonnie) Decker of Erie, PA.
She is also survived by three grandchildren, Tabitha (Kevin) Wolfe of Robesonia, PA, Kasey (John) Mares of Ephrata, PA and Chad (Alica) Morton of Manheim, PA and step-grandson, Matthew Schrider of Milton, DE; and 5 great grandchildren (Scarlett, Rias, Randi, Marley and Oliver); and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held in Corry, PA at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to ACG Hospice at acghospice.com - Volunteering & Foundation - The Carnation Foundation.
