Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ponder Funeral Home - Sikeston from Nov. 26 to Nov. 28, 2025.
CHARLESTON: Mr. Mary Brownlee Muckenfuss, wife of the late Richmond Floyd "R.F." Muckenfuss, passed away in the early morning hours of Wednesday, November 26, 2025 at the NHC Healthcare Center in West Ashley at the age of 96.

Mrs. Muckenfuss was born in Charleston December 22, 1928 a daughter of the late Janie Bell Huggins Brownlee and the late Joseph P. Brownlee. Throughout her children's lives she was a devoted mother and homemaker until they became adults. Once they were out on their own, her passion for helping others blossomed. She became a volunteer at the MUSC Children's Cancer Hospital and touched the lives of countless families through her kind heart and caring demeanor. She received many awards for her dedication. Mrs. Muckenfuss also served as a volunteer at the Charleston Museum where she enjoyed sharing the history of the area with others, and she was an active member of the John Wesley Methodist Church. In 2023 the love of her life, and husband of 75 years, Floyd Muckenfuss, preceded her in death. The family is comforted knowing that they are now together once again in heaven.

Mrs. Muckenfuss is survived by her son, R.F. Muckenfuss Jr. (Susan) and by her daughter, Belinda Muckenfuss Shaffer. There are three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held privately at the Jordan Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the John Wesley Methodist Church in Charleston. Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home, 117 Paul Street in Walterboro is in charge of arrangements.
