Mary Lou Newborg

Mary Louise Newborg (née Murphy), age 78, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2025, at Samaritan Hospice in Mt. Holly, New Jersey.
Born on July 17, 1946, in Riverside, New Jersey, Mary Lou spent her life rooted in the communities of southern New Jersey. Most recently in Mansfield Township. Mary Lou spent most of her life making sure others had great hair. She owned and operated The Mary Louise Beauty Shoppe in Delran for decades. She retired from the hair salon to open Country Faire Gift Shop in Moorestown, where she shared her eye for unique treasures and warm hospitality with generations of customers. Her shop became a beloved local fixture and a reflection of her creativity and dedication. Upon closing the gift shop, she went to work at the Masonic Home where she worked in Activities and later at Acacia Hospice. She was very involved in her community at Homestead making many new friends and neighbors through her participation in community activities. Throughout her life, she would always make herself available to anyone who needed someone to listen and made herself a friend to all.
Mary Lou was deeply involved in community and fraternal organizations. She was a member of Beverly Maqueda Chapter #276 of the Order of the Eastern Star, where she found fellowship and purpose through service. She was also a former member of Covenant Presbyterian Church where she participated in worship in community life.
Mary Lou was predeceased by her husband William in 2020. Her greatest joy came from her family. She is lovingly remembered by her children: Thomas Mclarney III and his wife Sherry, and Melissa Rozecki. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Andy Tibbetts, Brian Tibbetts (Kaitlyn), Shelby Tibbetts (Erdne Kutinow), Emily McLarney, as well as the late Tara Salaga; her great-grandchildren Kayla Keil, Destiny Pfeffer, Olivia Shubert, and Cooper Tibbetts.. She also leaves behind her sisters Lois Carruthers and Kathie Phillips (Bob) and her second family, Chris Newborg, his wife Monica, and son Evan; as well as Elizabeth Klopp, her husband Jamie and sons Oliver and Abbott. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
A private interment will take place at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown, NJ. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
