Mary Lita Pappillion

Whether you knew her as Lita, Lita May, Mom, Granny, or randomly and lovingly as Jo, you will all know one true thing: this woman was a brilliant character in so many ways. Kindhearted and sharp witted she loved helping others and making people laugh.
Lita was loved by many. In 2022, she married Michael Beyer of Victoria, TX. Left to honor her memory are Lita's children, Tiffane Pappillion of Carmel, Indiana (Brandon Hampton) and Chris Pappillion of Victoria, Texas and her sisters Karen Jordan of Monroe, Louisiana (Vincent Jordan) and Gwen Parrish. Lita and her lemon cake and fudge will be especially missed by her granddaughter Henleigh Stas of Liberty, North Carolina and all her sweet nieces and nephews.
Long ago, Lita had the idea for everyone to get together and have a funeral for the living. For hers, she would wear a red dress and everyone could regale her with funny stories and take turns tell her how much they worshiped her. Well, this did not turn out exactly how she imagined, but she would be so happy to see us celebrating together in honor of her life well-lived.
Memorial Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to Hospice of South Texas in gratitude for their exceptional care or to the Food Bank of the Golden Crescent to continue Lita's legacy of cooking and baking for those she loved.
Lita used to say she wore her hair high to hide her horns, but secretly we all know it was to hide her crooked halo imperfect as all of us, and so very good to the core.
