Mary Perino

1928 - 2025

Mary Louise (Ritenour) Perino, 97, of Latrobe, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2025, at her home. Born Sept. 26, 1928, in Cook Township, she was a daughter of the late Harvey Ritenour Sr. and Freida "Becky" (Peiffer) Ritenour. Louise was a member of St. Rose Church, Latrobe, and a 1946 graduate of Latrobe High School. Prior to her retirement, Louise had had a long and distinguished career as a legal secretary for former Pennsylvania Senator Paul W. Mahady, Caruthers Law Firm in Greensburg, Mahady and Mahady in Latrobe, and the Unity Township Municipal Authority. She had also served as legal secretary for former Pennsylvania Senator Paul W. Mahady. Louise loved the outdoors, whether it was gardening, golfing, or fishing. Some of her other favorite pastimes included crafts and sewing, dancing, and vacationing. Her most cherished moments, however, were spending time with her sisters, family, and her lifelong circle of friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles L. Perino; a daughter-in-law, Cherry Zeltner; and three brothers, Miles, Earl, and Harvey Ritenour Jr. Louise is survived by her four children, Donald N. Zeltner Jr. of Ohio Pyle, Vicki Ruffner and her husband, Dale, of Richmond, VA, Trudy Horwat of Unity Township, and Douglas Zeltner and his wife, Annette, of Unity Township; two stepchildren, Charles Pernio and his wife, Molly, of Oregon, and Terri Moody of Florida; two sisters, Arlene Carnahan of Unity Township, and Dolores Rause and her husband, Richard, of Bradenville; two brothers, Elmer Ritenour and his wife, Margie, of Latrobe, and Duane Ritenour of Latrobe; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Louise's family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the care team of Bridges Hospice and Diane Mull for the kind and compassionate care that they provided Louise, enabling her to spend her last days at home. Family and friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 30, 2025, at LOPATICH-BRINKER FUNERAL HOME LLC, 601 Weldon St., Latrobe. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Friday, Oct. 31, 2025, at St. Rose Church, Latrobe, with the Rev. Ron Maquinana as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. James Lutheran Cemetery, Youngstown. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to St. Rose Church, 4969 Route 982, Latrobe, PA 15650.
