Mary Peterson Obituary
Mary was born and raised in Midland, Michigan and graduated from Michigan State University. She then became an elementary school teacher. She had lived in Tallahassee since 1995 with her beloved husband of 51 years, Bill, until his passing in 2017. Mary served this community as an advocate for people with disabilities and as an active member of Faith Presbyterian Church. Before moving to Tallahassee, she led many civic activities to benefit youth, including Project Graduation. Mary embraced life with grace, dignity, and her characteristic humor.
Survivors include her four children, Eric Peterson of Nashville, TN, Karen Peterson of Tallahassee, William Edward Peterson, III (Sara) of Naples and Todd Peterson (Edie) of Naples; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was predeceased by her husband, William Edward Peterson, Jr.
