Mary Elizabeth Rice York, age 86, of Amity, passed away on Friday, September 26, 2025.
She was born on May 24, 1939, in Amity. Mary was the daughter of Benjamin Franklin Rice and Elizabeth Hollen King Rice. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Billy York, Sr.; her sister, Gladys R. King; and her brother, Philip C. Rice.
Mary married the love of her life, Billy in November of 1959. She loved flowers, gardening, and cooking. She was a very talented seamstress, putting together over 100 quilts. Most of all she loved being with her family and being "granny" to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mary was a wonderful wife, mother, granny, sister, and friend and she will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her three children and their spouses, Debra Smith, Billy, Jr. and Sheri York, and Ann and Mike Carpenter all of Amity; her grandchildren and their spouses, Joseph Ford, Breannon and Kris Kelley, Trey and Emily York, Brandon and Ella Carpenter, and Nicole Carpenter; her sixteen great-grandchildren; her two brother and sister-in-law, William and June Rice and George Rice; and many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and a host of wonderful friends.
Pallbearers will be Brandon Carpenter, Trey York, Kris Kelley, Bryan Rice, and Chris Rice.
The family wants to give a special thank you to her caregiver, Michelle Duggan, and the staff at Chi St. Vincent- Hot Springs for their loving care.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 1, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Smith Family Funeral Home- Glenwood.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, October 2, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Smith Family Funeral Home Chapel- Glenwood with Bro. Gerald Ward officiating.
Interment will be held at Bethsaida Cemetery.
