Mary J. (Varsho) Saba, 76, Marshfield, passed away on Thursday, November 6, 2025 at Marshfield Medical Center.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, November 17, 2025 at St. John's Catholic Church, Marshfield with a rosary service at 8:30 am and visitation from 9:00 am until the time of service. Rev. Dan Thelen will officiate. The service will be streamed online at www.facebook.com/rembsfuneralhomes. Burial will take place at Highland Memory Gardens, Cottage Grove at a later date. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be her brothers, Daniel, Michael, Steven, Randall, Patrick, Gordon, and Lee. Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Mary was born on August 15, 1949 to Leo and Marion (Hartl) Varsho. She attended St. John's Parochial School, Columbus High School, and Auburndale High School, and graduated from Marshfield Senior High. She moved to Madison in 1979 where she worked as an Insurance Claims Processor until her retirement in 2022.
She was united in marriage to Lloyd Bourenske on November 26, 1980. He passed away on September 21, 1997. She later married Norbert Saba on October 30, 1999. He passed away on October 10, 2022.
Mary made many friends through her love of bowling, playing bingo, and her active involvement at St. Dennis Catholic Church in Madison. She enjoyed cheering on the Green Bay Packers and Wisconsin Badgers and working concessions at Camp Randall Stadium. After returning to Marshfield in 2024, Mary continued to build lasting friendships while bowling at EML and playing bingo. She became an active member of St. John's Catholic Church, where she served as a CCD teacher, Eucharistic minister, and a dedicated member of the adoration team.
She is survived by her siblings, Sue (Ken) Helmke of Green Bay, Linda Schneider of Marshfield, Daniel (Ruth) Varsho of Stratford, Michael Varsho of Marshfield, Steven (Vickie) Varsho of Hewitt, Randall Varsho of Cross Plains, Jeri Varsho of Marshfield, Vicki (Leonard) Brostowitz of Phillips, Patrick Varsho of Marshfield, Gordon (Shirley) Varsho of Vesper, Sandra (Gary) Kosmicki of Arpin, Lee (Vicky) Varsho of Marshfield and Tracy (Bill) Gehrke of Auburndale, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is further survived by her stepchildren, Lisa Freeman and David Bourenske, and 2 step grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Marion Varsho, husbands, Lloyd Bourenske and Norbert Saba, brothers, Chuck, Scott, and Keith, and brother in law, Mike Phillips.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Marshfield Medical ICU and Palliative Care staff.
