Mary Beth Shannon-Neeley, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, friend, passed away peacefully on October 26, 2025, in Dayton, Ohio. Born on April 21, 1955, in Takoma Park, Maryland, Mary Beth lived a life filled with love, faith, laughter, and devotion to those she held dear.

Mary Beth’s children and grandchildren were the lights of her life. She poured her heart into them, celebrating every milestone and offering gentle guidance with patience and grace. Her love was constant — never wavering, always giving. She taught her family the importance of faith, compassion, and standing by one another through all of life’s moments, both big and small. She created a home filled with warmth, kindness, and unconditional love — a place where everyone felt welcomed and cared for.

Throughout her career, Mary Beth brought compassion and dedication to everything she did. She worked for years at Holy Cross and Sycamore Hospital before spending 25 years at George Washington University Hospital as a residency coordinator, where she took great pride in helping medical residents achieve their dreams of becoming doctors. After retirement, her love for animals became her new calling. She cared for countless pets through Rover—earning a 5-star rating—and devoted her time to 4 Paws for Abilities, combining her passion for helping others with her affection for four-legged friends.

A woman of deep faith, Mary Beth was an active and devoted member of St. Luke Catholic Church, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister, volunteered in the church office, and participated in the Craft Ladies group. Her kindness, patience, and gentle strength reflected her belief in living her faith through love and service.

Mary Beth will be remembered for her radiant smile, her infectious laughter, and her ability to make everyone feel loved and appreciated. Her selflessness, strength, and devotion to her family created a legacy that will continue through those who were lucky enough to know and love her. Her creative spirit shone through her cross-stitching, her love of animals, and the thoughtful ways she cared for others

Mary Beth was preceded in death by her parents, James and Bertha Shannon. She is survived by her loving partner, Randy Neeley; her children and grandchildren, Kristina Shannon, Kimberly (and soon-to-be son-in-law, Robert Castle) Neeley, James (Melissa, Serena Beth, and Arnold) Neeley, and Emily (Michael, Ella, and William) Brunt; her siblings, Marjorie (the late Paul) Geisler, James (Mary Margaret) Shannon, Karen (Robert Earl) Merry, Robert (Nancy) Shannon, and Cliff (Cheri) Shannon; and her beloved dogs, Timmy and Cracker, along with her grand-animals.

Her legacy is one of faith, family, laughter, and resilience. Mary Beth’s love will continue to echo through the generations of her family and the hearts of everyone blessed to have known her.

A visitation will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beavercreek, on Thursday, October 30, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, followed by a memorial service at 4:00 PM.
