Mary Lou was born to Eileen Margaret Schwenson-Schlabs and Edwin John Schlabs in Lincoln, Nebraska. She grew up in South Dakota.
She married Richard Allen Simet and later Herschel Wayne Hinkle, both deceased.
Mary Lou was an accomplished seamstress worker until the early 1980s when she became a Certified Nurse Aid. She worked as a caring, devoted nurse aid until she retired in 2008. She was a devout Catholic and purely and truly loved her God.
Maudie was an accomplished master quilter. Among many quilts of love she completed, she always enjoyed donating a special quilt annually to Joe High for the Sterling Volunteer Firefighter's Rodeo. She enjoyed many different crafts, and Polka, gospel, and classic country music.
Maudie devoted her retirement to her family, which included her fur baby companions: Harley, Brady, Xena, Pretty Girl, Ranger, Margot, and Felix.
Mary Lou was a loving Mother to: Dianna Lynn Simet-Ahmann and John Ahmann, and Michael Allen Simet, all deceased; Tracy Lee Simet in South Dakota, Patty Ann Simet of Sterling, Oklahoma, Christina Dawn Briggs and Danny Briggs of Azle, Texas.
Grandchildren include: Billy Joe and Tanya Currier of Newton, Iowa. Mark Wayne Ahmann, Trisha Nicole Ahmann and Alex John and Angie Ahmann, all of Lincoln, Nebraska. Darren Michael Simet and Courtney Dawn Simet, both of Rapid City, South Dakota. Brittany Cheyenne and Nolan Tucker and Daniel Eugene Briggs, all of Azle, Texas.
Great grandchildren include: Jordan, Lauren, Jaden, Darren, Miles, Izac, Keegan, and Colter.
Her siblings include: Michael John Schlabs of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Kathy Kay Tooley of Alliance, Nebraska, and Angela Clark or Rapid City, South Dakota.
For as long as family can remember, Mary Lou expressed the desire to donate her body to science. She felt even in death, she could help others as she had done every day of her beautiful life. She was accepted into the OU Willed Body Program in 2009.
Memorial for Mary Lou will be at a later date. No flowers or plants, please. Make donations in her name to the Animal Shelter in Elgin, Oklahoma if you would like.
