Mary Elizabeth Stem

Mary Elizabeth Bryant Stem, age 79, of Smyrna, passed away on May 10, 2011 at her residence. She was a native and life-long resident of Rutherford County. She was a homemaker and a seamstress. She was a member of the Gillroy Church of Christ. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, W. J. “Brownie� Bryant and Annie Irene Wright Bryant; brother, Charles Bryant; and sister, Ann Woodson. She is survived by her husband, John D. Stem of Smyrna; son, Marvin Stem of Smyrna; brothers, C. J. Bryant of Rockvale and James Bryant of Deason, TN; sisters, Dorothy Lufkin of Murfreesboro; Vicky Dean of Haleyville, AL and Judy Hooker of Shelbyville; three grandchildren, Ashley Stem, Brooke Stem and Carson Stem; two great-grandchildren, Aiden Crowe and Brayden Stem; and long time caregiver, Rita Stem. A chapel service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 13, 2011 at Jennings and Ayers Chapel with Jerry Maxwell officiating. Burial will follow at Whitworth Cemetery with family and friends serving as active pallbearers.
