On May 18th 2025, Mary Violet Stephens, age 90, of Leon, WV was called home to be with the Lord peacefully surrounded by Family.
Mary lived a life rooted in faith, devoted to Christ, and guided by the teachings of the Holy Bible. She was a women of unwavering belief, whose love for the Lord shone through every aspect of her life. Mary found joy in prayer, strength in scripture, and peace in the promises of eternal life.
As a mother, she raised her children in the ways of the Lord, teaching them to love, to serve, and to trust in him always.
She's proceeded in death by her parents, Brady and Violet Turley; sister Maureen (Jim) Jackson; her loving husband of 62 years, Homer Stephens; Son, Wayne Stephens.
Mary was a homemaker. She married the love of her life, Homer Stephens in 1956, her and Homer attended Harvey Chapel Church in Leon, as well as many churches over the years. Where she led youth choir and taught many to play piano. She enjoyed time with her family, writing short story's and poems, couponing and working puzzles. She faithfully attended McDonalds and the Wellness Center over the years.
She is survived by her devoted daughter, Ruth Stephens; Sister, Betty Wendell; daughter-in-law, Caroline Stephens; Grandchildren, Dylan (Teresa) Stephens, Maggie (Mike) Cole, Andy Hudson, Lindsay (Brad) Shinn. Great Grandsons; Hayden, Hunter and Luke Shinn. And several nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
The family would like to thank the staff of Pleasant Valley Health Care Center for their wonderful care and compassion to her, you became part of her family.
She found comfort in verses such as 2 Timothy 4:7 " I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." As she now rest in the arms of the Savior, rejoicing in the presence of the Almighty.
There will be a celebration of life at 1:00 pm, Thursday, May 22, 2025, at the Crow-Hussell Funeral Home, Burial will follow at Mount Zion Cemetery, in Leon. Visitation will be held from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm on Thursday. You may offer condolences to the family via this webpage.
