Mary B. Thompson

Mary Bocanegra Thompson, age 85, passed away Monday, August 18, 2025. She was born March 21, 1940 in Juarez, Mexico to Rodolfo Bocanegra & Antonia Duran Bocanegra and was a proud naturalized American citizen.
Mary was a devout Catholic and member of St. Raphael Catholic Church, whose faith guided her every step. She was a generous and loving soul, she gave freely of her time, her heart, and her kindness to everyone. Above all, she adored her family, cherishing every moment spent together and nurturing deep, lasting bonds. Her heart was equally open to the beloved pets she cared for, each one holding a special place in her life. Her best days began simply with the warmth of the sun on her face, a hot cup of coffee in hand, and her favorite breakfast. She found joy in life's simple pleasures, whether dancing and singing along to the familiar tunes of 80s country and Spanish music, getting caught up in her favorite novelas, or cheering passionately during a good soccer match. Her perfect day often ended with a long shopping trip followed by a well-earned meal out, where laughter and good food were always on the menu. She lived with warmth, spirit, and an unwavering love for the people and animals she held dear.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents Rodolfo Bocanegra & Antonia Duran Bocanegra, her brothers Rafael Bocanegra and Jose Fernando Bocanegra, and her sister Estela Montes De Oca. She is survived by her sons James Thompson & wife Denise, Edwin Thompson & wife Lynne, William Thompson, daughters Cynthia Thompson, Jessica Thompson & wife Sophia, brothers Efren Bocanegra & wife Lola, Luis Bocanegra & wife Frances, sister Martha Morrow, grandchildren Nicole, Brittany, Lauren, Kristen, Francisco, Cynthia, Anastasia, Felicia, Joseph, Crystal, Antonio, Devin, Kriss, Allyn, Stefani, and 26 great grandchildren.
The Viewing will be on Tuesday, August 26, 2025 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm and the Rosary Service from 7:00pm to 8:00pm at San Jose Funeral Home East in Chapel A, 10950 Pellicano Drive in El Paso, TX.
The Mass Service will be on Wednesday, August 27, 2025 at 12:00pm at Saint Raphael Catholic Church, 2301 Zanzibar Road in El Paso, TX.
The Burial will be on Wednesday, August 27, 2025 at 1:30pm at Evergreen East Cemetery, 12400 East Montana Avenue in El Paso, TX.
