Mary Ellen Ward

A graveside service for Mrs. Mary Ellen Ward, 95, of Jacksonville, was held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 21, 2024 at White's Gap Cemetery with Rev. Garry Brown officiating. Mrs. Ward passed away January 18, 2024. Mrs. Ward was native of Calhoun County. She worked for a few years at JSU and ten years at Jacksonville WalMart. Mrs. Ward was a longtime member of Hatcher Avenue Baptist Church. She adored all of her family, especially her grandchildren, and loved the holidays and spending time with her family. Mrs. Ward is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Carrie L. McCurry; a sister, Thelma Rice; brothers, Howard McCurry, Lewis McCurry, Ernest MCcurry, Cecil McCurry, and Floyd McCurry; her husbands, Horace Raulerson and Rev. Curtis Ward; children, Horace J. Raulerson and Sharon Denise Raulerson; daughter-in-law, Elaine Raulerson; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Mrs. Ward is survived by a son, Bobby Joe Raulerson; a daughter, Pamela L. Strawder (Tony); daughter-in-law, Loree Raulerson; grandchildren, Julie Shrum (Cody), Joshua Cleveland (April), Madelyn Strawder, Anthony Strawder (Heather), Wendy Strickland (Kevin), Jenny Woods (Greg), Derek Raulerson (Amanda), Natalie Mashburn, Benjamin Raulerson (Amanda), and Jacob Raulerson; great grandchildren, Kaitlyn Rollins (Corey), Megan Strickland (Ronnie), Brooke Raulerson, Connor Raulerson, Preston Strawder, Jackson Crowe, Elijah Strawder, Sawyer Pearson, Audrey Strawder, Samuel Strawder, Ella Raulerson, Eden Raulerson, Everly Raulerson, Beau Raulerson, Audrey Raulerson, Tristan Shrum, Channing Shrum, Morgan Rich, Ryker Peppers, Carson Edwards, Josie Mashburn, and Kressley Morris; and great-great grandchildren, Gatlin Tolbert and Elvey Rollins. Pallbearers were Derek Raulerson, Joshua Cleveland, Anthony Strawder, Morgan Rich, Connor Raulerson, and Preston Strawder. The family would like to especially thank Enhabit Home Health and Hospice for the loving and compassionate care given to Mrs. Ward; as well as Jacksonville Meals on Wheels for the wonderful care and service they provide.
