Mary Wazeter Mannhardt Obituary
Mary was a two-time state champion, an age group national 20k record holder for many years, and a world class runner, one of the best to come out of the Wyoming Valley, PA. She was inducted into the Luzerne County Sports Hall of Fame in 1997.
Despite numerous surgical operations and physical and mental challenges, Mary became an author of two books and a licensed counselor, and helped hundreds of people improve their lives at the Grace Counseling Center in Fredericksburg, VA. That was the race she most wanted to finish and win, and we know she leaves this world a better place. Long may you run, Mary!
Mary is predeceased by her parents, Leon and Edith Roberts Wazeter.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Frances X Cabrini Church, Wyoming on April 25th. Visitation will be at 930AM at the church with a mass to follow at 11AM. Interment will be held in Mount Olivet Cemetery following the mass. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mary's honor to Luzerne County Special Olympics, PO Box 1832, Shavertown, PA 18708.
