Obituary published on Legacy.com by Silver Creek Mortuary - Taylor on Mar. 10, 2026.
Mary LaReina Petersen Webb, a beloved figure in the Snowflake community, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her children on March 2, 2026, in
Snowflake, Arizona. Born on May 6, 1945, to Anthon Louis Petersen and Lorene Kelton Petersen, Mary was the heart of a loving family that included her siblings Leon (Evelyn) Petersen, Niel (Edith) Petersen, Dale (Bonnie) Petersen, Donna (Austin) Johnson, and James (Karen) Petersen, all of whom shared a close-knit bond throughout their lives.
Mary's journey through life was a testament to her kind, gentle, and selfless nature. Her education took her to Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, where she studied Home Economics and met the love of her life, Laurence Eugene Webb. Together, they built not just a family but also a legacy of service. During his final months, Mary was tenderly devoted, never leaving Eugene's side until his passing.
Mary and Eugene's partnership thrived as they owned and operated Webb's Sewing and Music for 27 years, a cornerstone of the Snowflake community where creativity and music filled the air. Their dedication to their work was only matched by their commitment to their 6 children, Brent Eugene Webb, Laura Jean (Raymond) Shumway, Lynnette (Michael) Lunt, Melanie (Steve) Self, Loren Tyler Webb, and Nathan Ballard (Cherie) Webb, whom Mary adorned with clothes sewn with love and care. She poured her heart into creating school clothes, Sunday dresses, prom dresses, wedding dresses, the boys' attire, Halloween costumes, and costumes for countless musicals showcasing her incredible talent and love for sewing.
After closing their store, Mary and Eugene opened Webb's Adult Care Home, where they provided tender care to many elderly residents, further highlighting Mary's innate ability to nurture and support those around her. Her involvement with the Snowflake Heritage Foundation and Snowflake Town Council was equally impactful, where she served countless hours and played an instrumental role in bringing the street lanterns to life on Main Street. The original patriotic buntings and snowflakes that Mary crafted for the lanterns became a symbol of her dedication to the community and her creative spirit.
Her talent evolved into a passion for machine embroidery, leading her to start a successful embroidery business from her home, which she operated until her final days.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Eugene, her parents Louis and Lorene Petersen, her brothers Leon and Neil, her sister Donna, her granddaughter Kaitlin, and her great-grandson Hollister.
Mary's life was a beautiful tapestry of love, service, and creativity. Her gentle spirit touched everyone she met, and her selflessness was a beacon of inspiration. As we remember Mary, let us hold close the memories of her kindness and the countless ways she made our lives richer. Her legacy will continue to shine brightly in Snowflake. Mary LaReina Petersen Webb will be dearly missed, but the love and light she brought into this world will forever remain in our hearts.
