Mary Elizabeth Williford, 79, of Seale, Al, passed away peacefully surrounded by family in Tallassee, Al, on February 19, 2026. A visitation will be held at Vance Brooks Funeral Home, 3738 Hwy 431 N., Phenix City, AL 36867, on Monday, February 23, 2026, at 1:00 pm EST – 2:00 pm EST, followed by a memorial service at 2:00 pm EST.
Mary Williford was born in Columbus, Ga, on February 20, 1946, to the late Sydney and Hazel Pollard. Mary worked as the Executive Director of the Housing Authority for the state of Alabama until retirement. She traveled often for work and continued the enjoyment of travelling with her husband, James H. Williford, after retirement. In her free time, she enjoyed fishing, shopping, and home interior decorating. She would practice calligraphy and loved to cook. Mary was a proper and classy lady who prioritized grammar and etiquette. Most of all, Mary loved her family. She was the foundation of her family, bringing everyone together for holidays and insisting on traditions. She adored her children and grandchildren, leaving a legacy of elegance, compassion, and togetherness. Mary will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.
Mary is preceded in death by her husband, James Hunter Williford; parents, Sydney Pollard and Hazel Cronic Pollard; and numerous siblings.
She is survived by her sons, Jason Williford and wife Renee, and Jared Williford and wife Melissa; and grandchildren, Jordyn Williford, Hunter Williford, Leah Williford, and Eres Croker.
