Mary Claire Wohlgemuth, 90, of Atchison, KS, formerly of Effingham, KS, passed away Sunday, March 9, 2025, at Amberwell Health, Atchison, KS.
Memorial service will be 10:30AM, Monday, March 24, 2025, at the Becker Chapel, 402 3rd St., Effingham, KS with Rev. Linda Sweany officiating. The body has been cremated, and the interment of the cremated remains will be at the Coal Creek Cemetery, north of Valley Falls, KS. The family will receive friends prior to the service Monday, March 24th, 2025, from 9:30 to 10:30 am at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Valley Falls, KS or the Effingham Library and may be sent in care of the funeral home. Mary Claire was born on August 29, 1934, in Atchison, KS, the daughter of Howard and Marjorie (Arington) Reichart. She graduated from Atchison County Community High School in 1952. Mary was the USD 377 Elementary School Secretary for twenty-nine years. She was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Valley Falls, KS and enjoyed reading and embroidery.
Mary Claire married Donald Eugene Wohlgemuth on July 31, 1953, at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Atchison, KS. He preceded her on March 6, 2019. Survivors include two sons, Kirk and Ruth Wohlgemuth, Effingham, KS, Kent and Mary Beth Wohlgemuth, Atchison, KS, a sister Patricia Milliken, Spring Valley, CA, six grandchildren sixteen great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Her parents also preceded her in death.
