Maryann Foley, age 69 of Redford, passed away on June 19, 2024. She was born in Detroit, Michigan on August 15, 1954 to her parents, the late Maryann (née Buscemi) and Salvatore Leto.
Maryann is the beloved and devoted wife of 38 years to Dan Foley, Sr; loving mother of three children – Andrew Foley, Danielle Foley and Dan (Lauren) Foley, Jr. She is deeply loved and will be greatly missed by her siblings, Angela McCarty, William (Nancy) Leto, Tom (Sue) Leto, Diane Palumbo and sister-in-law Sandy Leto. She is pre-deceased by her brother Sam Leto. She also leaves behind her grand-dogs, Harley and Patches, who always brought a smile to her face.
Maryann’s personality was bright, warm, loving, and forgiving. She saw the best in people and continued to believe in them no matter what. As a young woman, she became a nurse, serving at North Detroit General Hospital and Straith Hospital. Through the years, even through cancer treatment, she continued to study and keep her nursing education up to date. She left full-time nursing to step into her next role that came so naturally— that of being a loving mother to her three children. She took such great pride in raising them and making the house feel like a Home. After the children had grown up, she wanted to get back out in the world; she took on yet another role of caring, as a server at the Sweet Afton Tearoom in Plymouth. She quickly made many close friends with staff and customers, always taking the extra effort to make genuine connections and brighten their days.
Maryann was a woman with a deep faith in Christ, and found a home in recent years at Four Winds Church in Livonia. She was involved in regular prayer groups, worship, and always looked for ways to support others there— despite her illness. The influence of her faith radiated through everything she did, so that her secular life and her relationship with God were one and the same.
Hers is a life worth celebrating with beautiful song, hugs, praise, and appreciation for the love we have to share.
