Maryanne Lutz Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Family Life Funeral Homes - Sault Sainte Marie (formerly Clark Hovie Galer on Sep. 22, 2025.
Maryanne Lutz, age 85, of Trout Lake, Michigan, died on September 19, 2025, at the Ball Hospice House in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. She was born on March 6, 1940, in Newberry, Michigan, to George and Winnifred (Beaudoin) Mazur. Maryanne grew up in Trout Lake, surrounded by cousins, aunts, uncles, and extended family. She later met and married Warren Lutz, and in December 1960, she moved with him to accompany the U.S. Geological Survey, relocating every few months during those early years of marriage. Eventually, the couple settled in Lyndon, Kansas, where they raised their daughter, Kimberly. In Kansas, Maryanne worked first in a local dental office and later as an office manager in a medical practice, where she dedicated many years before retiring. In 1994, she returned to her hometown of Trout Lake, where she reconnected with her childhood friends. Two years later, she met Bill Massey, with whom she shared twenty-nine wonderful years. Maryanne enjoyed an active and down-to-earth life. She spent many years bowling, a pastime that kept her connected with friends and community. At home, she liked to watch the deer that wandered through her yard, often pausing to share her observations with visitors. She also appreciated being outdoors, especially walking in the woods alongside Bill, where she found peace and familiarity in the landscape she had known since childhood. In her younger years, she spent time on the ice, and her memories of skating remained a source of fond reflection throughout her life. Maryanne is survived by her partner, Bill; daughter, Kimberly Krull of Topeka, Kansas; granddaughter, Brittany Burgess of Lawrence, Kansas; brother, George Mazur of Palm Coast, Florida; and niece, Lisa Harrington of Seattle, Washington. Maryanne was preceded in death by her ex-husband, Warren Lutz; parents, George and Winnie; and multiple aunts, uncles, and cousins. Per Maryanne's wishes, no services will be held. Maryanne's final resting place will be at Caffey Cemetery in Naubinway, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, donations in Maryanne's honor may be made to the Chippewa County Animal Shelter, 3660 S Mackinac Trail, Sault Ste. Marie, MI 49783.
