Maryanne Schavone, 77, of Jeannette, the kindest and most generous soul, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on June 3, 2025. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Maryanne's warmth, creativity, and deep faith touched countless lives. Born and raised in Oakmont, PA, she was the daughter of the late Melvin and Margaret Remaley. After marrying the love of her life, Leonard Schavone, she made her home in Penn Hills, where they raised their daughter, Nikole. Maryanne shared an extraordinary love story with her husband, Leonard. Married for nearly 60 years, they were true partners in every sense walking hand in hand through life's joys and challenges with unwavering devotion. Their days were filled with simple pleasures: long walks, shared travels, quiet evenings, and countless laughs. Their love was joyful, enduring, and an inspiration to all who knew them, making it the steady, beautiful foundation of their family. Maryanne lived a full and vibrant life. She loved golfing, traveling, taking long walks with Leonard, and relaxing with a glass (or three) of wine. But most of all, she loved spending time with her family and many treasured friends. During their years living in Mississippi and Tennessee, she and Leonard embraced new adventures while staying closely connected to loved ones. She was the ultimate hostess, creative, welcoming, and always ready to share her famous maple syrup cake, apple crisp, green bean bundles, or beloved "chicken fish." Deeply faith-filled, Maryanne prayed and meditated daily and had a strong devotion to the Blessed Mother and St. Jude. She was a dedicated member of St. Barbara Parish and was passionate about serving others, especially through her work with the Kentucky Project. For more than a decade, she and Leonard sponsored a family, regularly purchasing, collecting, and packing goods to send each month, and looked forward to their annual reunion trips to Kentucky. Maryanne was everyone's friend. She had many lifelong connections, but her most enduring and cherished was her "Penn Hills gang" a" tight-knit" group that stood by each other through more than 40 years of life's ups and downs. She also had a special bond with her "French Family," a relationship that began with a high school exchange student and grew into a lifelong friendship, filled with visits, messages, and mutual affection spanning nearly four decades. Her relationship with her daughter, Nikole, was incredibly close. They were best friends. Their morning phone calls were how they started every single day, and they could talk about anything and everything sharing life's joys, worries, and laughter. She also had a great relationship with her son-in-law, Tom they shared a special bond and loved to joke around with each other, always with warmth and good humor. Maryanne was fiercely devoted to her family. Her greatest joy came from being "Mimi" to her three grandchildren. She shared long talks and a love for creativity and food with her oldest grandchild, Jacob, treasuring the wooden tray he once made for her. Her middle grandchild, Jackson, was her buddy, they shared lunches, golf outings, and a quiet bond that reminded her so much of her husband. Her granddaughter, Olivia, was her kindred spirit. Maryanne was adored. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, June 9, 2025, at the VAIA FUNERAL HOME INC., 463 Athena Drive, Delmont (724-468-1177).
