Marydell Dunn, age 71 of Montgomery, LA, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at her residence surrounded by her loved ones.
She was born on July 29, 1954 in Montgomery, LA, a daughter of the late Monroe DuBois and Ora Ferrier DuBois,
Marydell, "Mimmie" as she was affectionately called by family and friends, was born the fourth of five girls. In her younger years, she was a tremendous athlete and loved playing slow-pitch softball where she formed many friendships over the years. Later on, she wasn't afraid to beat you in a card game, dominoes or corn hole at Carolyn and Hershel's house or sing karaoke with you. When she was home, you could find her entertaining her many nieces and nephews. Everyone loved going to Mimmie's house because she spoiled you and made you feel like you were the most precious thing in the world. She also coached Brandon and his friends in little league baseball and basketball and babysat many kids over the years. She always had to keep KK to "water" her and make sure she was hydrated. Above all, she loved bringing her "babies" to church.
She loved her family fiercely and was the first one "showing up" in support of whatever was happening in their lives. She loved spending time with her husband, John, watching movies, on the banks of a pond or lake fishing for bream or white perch, or just enjoying a nice meal together. Her pride and joy was her son, granddaughters and great-grandsons. Her kids brought her so much joy and happiness and made her heart truly full. She devoted her life to her son, grandchildren and family.
Before her illness, during the week, you could catch her wearing one of many hats at McManus Auto. She was Darren's book keeper, telephone operator, secretary, salesperson, pecan cracker, bouncer, mailman, therapist, etc. She enjoyed visiting and helping everyone that came into the Station.
She attended Montgomery Church of Christ and loved worshipping with her brothers and sisters in Christ. She loved the Lord and wanted everyone to know the Word. She kept the faith and now she is at rest in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Greg Brumley; sister, Dorothy DuBois; infant brother, Merwyn Ray DuBois; nieces, Chasity Humphrey and Jaycee Carter.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, John Dunn; son, Brandon Brumley; granddaughters, Mackenzie Brumley (Brendan), Sydney Boyd (Brandon); great-grandsons, Krew Brumley and Kaspen Boyd; sisters, Shirley Roberts (Jerry), Effie McManus (Royce) and Carolyn Sanders (Hershel); brother-in-law, Vic DuBois; nieces and nephews, Misty Sanders (Michael), Kristin Sanders (Shawn), Greg Roberts, Delayne McManus, Darren McManus (Brittany), Veronica Carter (Steve), Terry Oliver (Carolyn), Mandy Strickland (Michael) and Michael DuBois (Shay); and a host of great nieces and nephews who will always be Mimmie's babies.
1 Thessalonians 4:13-14
"Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.
