Maryellen Brooks Obituary
Maryellen grew up in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania, where she attended St. Cyril's School before graduating from Archbishop Prendergast Catholic High School in 1964. She later built a dedicated career with the Wilmington Trust Bank, retiring as head teller after 27 years of service.
Maryellen's greatest joy was her family. She shared 60 years of marriage with her loving and devoted husband, George E. Brooks Sr. of Wilmington, Delaware. Together, they raised three children: George E. Brooks Jr. (Sharlene) of Wilmington, Delaware; Donna A. McGuire (Mary) of Harrington, Delaware; and John J. Brooks (Kristen) of Boerne, Texas. She was the proud grandmother of ten and the beloved great-grandmother of six.
Known for her warmth and hospitality, Maryellen welcomed everyone into her home with open arms and a home-cooked meal. Her love of family, faith, and food made her kitchen table the heart of every gathering. She had a deep devotion to the Blessed Mother and carried her faith with her throughout her life.
Maryellen was loved by all who knew her and will be deeply missed.
Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Maryellen's name to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 669, New Castle, DE 19720 or www.cancer.org
