Maryiva Williams Obituary

Published by Legacy on Jan. 8, 2026.
Maryiva Kay (Parent) Williams, 59 of National City, MI, passed away at 7:40pm on January 1st, 2026.
Mary was born on May 30, 1966, in Alliance Ohio to Jim & Julita Parent. Both of Mary's parents as well as her brother, Tim Parent, proceed her in death.
Mary leaves behind her husband, Kelly Williams (64) of National City, MI. Together, they were blessed with 30 years of marriage, beginning on June 17, 1995, in Hale, MI.
Mary is survived by her 3 children, Tabitha Dowdy (40) of Bay City, MI; Joshua Thompson (34)) of Columbus, IN and Stephen Thompson (32) of National City, MI. Mary was blessed with 5 adoring grandchildren, Chavell (19), Julita (18), Paisley (12), Weston (11) and Shepherd (2), and 1 great granddaughter, Adrie (1).
In 2009, Mary went through 4 open heart surgeries in less than a year. Little did her family know over the course of that year, they'd bear witness to what true strength looked like. Unfortunately, since 2009, Mary had many health issues that she faced. Mary was a woman who in the face of adversity, always had the fortitude and determination to overcome any obstacle. If you knew Mary, you knew a woman who was always smiling. You could hear the inflection of joy fall off the words she spoke and the cackle in her infectious laugh. Most importantly, you knew a woman who loved. She loved fiercely and loyally.
Mary will be remembered by those closest to her for her ability to make anything bloom and grow in her flower garden, her love of Betty Boop, bird watching off the back deck in the warm sunshine and her love of reading.
Mary was steadfast in her faith in Jesus Christ and professed his love and salvation to all who would listen and she prayer fervently for those she loved and cared about. She was opinionated, bold and passionate. Her strength, fortitude and perseverance was something to be admired.
So please, when you mourn Mary K Williams, do not mourn with pity for a woman who had to endure more than what was fair. Mourn a woman who was astute in her faith. Mourn a woman, that chose Faith, Love and Life, no matter the difficulty, over giving up. Do not mourn in sadness, but in happiness. Because happiness is what you felt when in the presence of this angel on earth.
We will forever miss you Momma.
A celebration of Mary's life will be held on Friday, January 9, 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Harbor Church in East Tawas with Pastor Scott Shamel officiating. Her family will welcome friends before the service from 10:00 AM until the time of her service for a period of visitation.
