Matteo Javier Bernabe, 17, of Bethel, died March 17th, 2026 surrounded by family after a long battle with cancer. Matteo was born on August 8th, 2008 to Primitivo Bernabe and Asuncion Reyes.

Matteo's was passionate about soccer, building the coolest Lego sets, working out when he was able to, drawing, and fishing. He was also into fashion and collecting Pokemon cards.

In addition to his parents, Matteo is survived by his sister Najely Olmos, brother Ivan Bernabe; his uncles Rolando and Oli Bernabe; his aunts Edith Bernabe and Ana Moreno; his brother-in-law Jaime Olmos; nephews Angel and Justin Olmos; cousins Yesenia, Rolando, Denise, Thalia, Kristo, Edgar, and Mikey; as well as Abuela Elena.

The family will receive friends at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Thursday, March 19th between the hours of 5:00 to 8:00pm.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place the following day, March 20th, at 11 AM at Our Lady of Guadalupe, located at 29 Golden Hill Rd, Danbury with a burial in St. Peter Cemetery to follow directly after the service.
