Matthew Bartell Obituary

Matthew "Matt" David Bartell passed away on May 22, 2025 due to sudden illness and now joins with Jesus his Lord and Savior in Heaven.

Matt was born to David and Dotty Bartell on May 9, 1978 in Enid, Oklahoma. His early years, prior to college, were lived in El Paso, Texas, Albuquerque, New Mexico, Kingwood and Montgomery, Texas.

One of the most memorable and rewarding experiences of Matt's early teen years was a time of radio-controlled car racing with his dad as his pit crew. That which started as an every weekend hobby at a local track in Conroe blossomed into a quest for national titles around the country with Matt showing great poise, skill and success.

After high school in Kingwood Matt attended Schreiner College in Kerrville then obtained

his geology degree from SFA in Nacogdoches, Texas in 2003.

Matt began his geophysicist career with Fugro Geoservices in 2004. He worked for three other seismic imaging companies in the following years due to mergers, acquisitions and industry volatility.

Matt married the love of his life, Mandy, in 2012 with a fabulous destination wedding on Hawaii's big island that included family and friends. Matt and Mandy made a wonderful and loving home for themselves in Houston along with their canine Schnauzer companion Bella (Moo).

Matt and Mandy enjoyed travel, locally and abroad and especially Galveston fishing and beach walking get-aways.

If anyone knows anything about Matt it is that he was a great friend and someone who could throw a dart or swing a ping pong paddle with the best of them. He also knew a thing or two about Houston sports.

We know Matt leaves us too soon. He will be loved and remembered by many. His sweet soul is now in the hands of our Heavenly Father.

Exodus 23:20

"See, I am sending an angel ahead of you to guard you along the way and to bring you to the place I have prepared."
