Muncie - Matthew Thomas Blake, 53, of Muncie, Indiana passed away peacefully on January 6, 2025. Matthew was born in Muncie, Indiana on June 6, 1971. Matt is survived by his mother Jean Blake of Dublin, Ohio, sister Megan (Chad) Weinman of Dublin, Ohio, and brother Michael Blake of Goshen, Kentucky. Additionally, Matt was a wonderful uncle to, and is survived by his niece Audrey Kirkley of Providence, Rhode Island and his nephew Colin Kirkley of Los Angeles, California. Matt is also survived by many dear friends. Those who knew Matt were enriched in their lives, in ways either small or expansive.
Over the years of his life Matt participated in Special Olympics, where he most enjoyed basketball and bocce ball, Best Buddies Baseball and Golf, and as a child he enjoyed Camp Isanogel. As a lifelong Muncie resident, Matt strove to do his best by contributing to the Muncie community by working at Hillcroft, Beyond I CAN, as well as restaurants Steak & Shake, Wendy's, and Bob Evans. He was a proud graduate of Muncie Southside High School. Matt enjoyed attending church services at First Presbyterian Church and First Brethren Church of Oakville. He also enjoyed pedicures and lunch at Buffalo Wild Wings with his brother.
Matt will be remembered as a joyful spirit. He befriended and was kind to every single person he met. He loved his family with every fiber of his being. Matt loved to dance, laugh and joke around. Matt is known for his expansive collection of hats and apparel dedicated to the sports teams he loved to support, too many to name.
Matthew is preceded in death by his father Thomas Lee Blake.
The family wishes to express gratitude for the companionship and comfort provided to him by the caring staff at Brickyard Healthcare, Heart to Heart Hospice, and IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital.
Matthew's family will honor his memory with a private memorial remembrance and celebration of his life.

I worked at BIC/CARS and I had the privilege of transporting Matt home in the afternoons he was such a joy. I was sad when he had to go into the Brickyard Healthcare facility. Staff and I with clients would go to visit with him. Matt would be so excited, On one of our visits I was wearing brand new IU basketball hat and hooded sweatshirt Matt Like them so well I gave them to him. I will forever miss him dearly. RIP Mathew Blake and I will look forward to seeing you again one day in HEAVEN!
