Matthew Scott Castañeda

Funeral Service for Matthew Scott Castañeda, of Lubbock, will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at Brownfield Funeral Home. Viewing will be from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm on Monday, January 13, 2025, at Brownfield Funeral Home, with visitation from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

Matthew was born on September 13, 1991, in Lubbock to Alfredo Acosta and Victoria Castañeda Diaz. He passed away on December 27, 2024, at the age of 33.

Matthew was known for his warm heart, infectious laughter, and remarkable talent. His loving nature shone brightly, particularly in the way he cared for his family.

Matthew's life was dedicated to caring for his mom and sister and left a lasting impression on those who knew him. He embraced his creative side through drawing and found joy in expressing himself through rap music. Matthew had a unique ability to bring smiles to those around him, often sharing jokes and creating moments filled with laughter. His compassion extended to his loyal dog, Violet, who was a constant source of companionship and joy in his life.

Matthew was preceded in death by his twin brother, Jeremy, and his paternal grandparents, Domingo and Lydia Acosta.

He is survived by his mother, Victoria Diaz and husband, Victor; his father, Alfredo Acosta; a sister, Samantha Castañeda; maternal grandparents, Alberto F. Castañeda and Carmine A. Castañeda; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
