Matthew Derham Cole, age 40, passed away on January 7, 2026, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Matthew was born on February 23, 1985, in Spartanburg, South Carolina, to Georgia and Lewis Cole. He was a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend whose presence left a lasting impression on those who knew him.
Matthew is survived by his parents, Lewis Buchanan Cole and Georgia Treen Cole; his brother, Chanan Cole, and his wife Jennifer, along with their children, Sully and Banks; his sister, Elizabeth Fogleman, and her husband Paul, along with their children, Charlotte and George; and his brother, Lee Cole. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Esther Lou and Bud Cole, Betty Treen, and John Treen. Matthew was deeply loved by his family and friends. He will be remembered for the bond he shared with each of them.
A funeral service will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church in Spartanburg, South Carolina, on January 11, 2026 at 2:00PM.
The family will be at the home.
