Matthew Alan "Matt" DeBoard, age 33, of
Murfreesboro, Tennessee, passed away on January 4, 2026. Matt was born on November 13, 1992, in
Baltimore, Maryland, and later made his home in Murfreesboro, where he built a life centered on love, family, and quiet strength.
Matt was generous to a fault-humble, stubborn in the way strong men sometimes are, deeply loving, and endlessly kind. He was a gentle soul with a playful spirit, especially when it came to his children. Above all else, Matt was an amazing father. Being "Dad" was not just a role to him; it was his purpose. He was a devoted husband, a family man through and through, and so much more than a son-he was a source of care, steadiness, and love to everyone who knew him.
Matt had a heart that gave without keeping score. He would give someone the shirt off his back or his last dollar if it meant helping another person. He loved animals deeply and carried a quiet patience that made others feel safe and seen.
Matt collected dragons and enjoyed cars, often dreaming about restoring an older truck one day. He also loved the outdoors, finding joy in hunting, camping, and hiking with his family. But nothing mattered more to him than being present with his children-those moments were his greatest joy.
By trade, Matt was an electrician, and one of the best. He took pride in his work, providing for his family with skill, dedication, and integrity.
This past summer, Matt experienced a profound transformation in his faith. He was saved and baptized, and through his example and leadership, several children within his church family followed in baptism over the course of several weeks-a legacy of faith and influence that continues beyond him.
Matt is survived by his loving mother, Karen; his father, George; his biological father, Christopher; his wife, Ashley; his children, Lucas (12), River (11), Elliana (4), and Lexi (2); his brother, Robert; his grandmother, Nancy; his grandfather, Alan; his uncle Keith, and his aunt Amanda.
He was preceded in death by his great-great-grandmother, Viola, and his great-grandmothers, Velma and Leona.
