Matthew Paul Havelka passed away peacefully surrounded by his wife, children, and immediate family on March 8, 2026. Matt was born and raised in the Violet Community of Robstown, Texas, on June 28, 1969. During his childhood, his love for hunting, fishing, ranching, and farming grew into a lifelong endeavor.
While attending college, he met the love of his life at the Nueces County Junior Livestock Show dance. He and Adrienne were married on March 4, 1995. They continued to plant roots and grow their family in the community. They settled on the Havelka family farm and had their two children, Morgan and Collin. They raised them to love and appreciate both the farming and ranching communities their parents were rooted in. Their children’s many activities kept them both very busy and led Matt to serve in several different capacities in the community.
Matt led a life of service, giving back to those around him. His lifelong work on the family farm led him to the various opportunities provided to him. He managed the Orange Grove Co-op for 20 years and worked at Ag chemical, fertilizer, and seed sales for many years. He could not get away from the event that brought him and Adrienne together all those years ago, as he served two terms on the Nueces County Junior Livestock Show Board of Directors. His smile and signature grin were seen as a ring spotter at the NCJLS auction for over 29 years, where he was honored this year. During Collin’s high school football career, he was a proud member of the Wildcat Football Cat Crew. He continued to give back to the community by serving a term on the Violet Water Supply Board. Matt was always one of his children’s biggest fans and served the community, watching them as he beamed with loving pride.
Matt’s quick wit, infectious laugh, and sly grin endeared him to all those who knew him. He continually gave back to those around him by helping in any way that he could. He fought hard during his 4-year battle with stage 4 kidney cancer, never giving up. He lived life large and served as an example of strength, courage, and love to his family, friends, and all those lucky enough to have him in their lives.
The family would like to thank Jeff Hunt and Kaelyn Lowman with Devoted Healthcare and Hospice Services for taking such good care of Matt in his final days.
Matt is preceded in death by his grandparents, Mae Helen and Edgar Rothlisberger, as well as Frank Havelka, Loretta and Otto Boerner and Uncle Allen Rothlisberger, Leroy Havelka, and Aunt Helen Liedecke.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Adrienne, children Morgan (Thomas) Korzekwa and Collin Havelka, granddaughter Harper Raye Korzekwa and near future grandchildren, Reese Lynette and Rollins Matthew Korzekwa. He is also survived by his parents Don and Carolyn Havelka, brothers Keith (Neisha) Havelka, Jason (Casey) Havelka, and Kris (Julie) Havelka as well as many neices and nephews.
