As the advisor to the Phi Theta Kappa(an internationally recognized academic honor society) chapter at Illinois Central College, I had the honor of inducting Matt into the local chapter and assisting him in his efforts to become a national vice president of Phi Theta Kappa. Matt tirelessly worked for the local PTK chapter for many years as well as giving his time and energy to the national PTK whose office is located in Jackson, MS. His ideas, leadership, and friendship were truly appreciated by all who knew him. He will be truly missed.

I knew Mat through High School @ Pekin. He was very popular at school, was one of the best students in 1983. Years later while working on my family tree, I may have stumbled on a familial link between our family line that would have made us 4th cousins. I will miss his smiling face through the years.

Matt was such a positive spirit and kind soul, with a true gift for expression. He was an effective advocate in our state capitol, particularly on issues of criminal and civil justice, and I was honored to work with him on various issues during my time representing Cook County. My deepest condolences to his family and many friends. Matt will be missed.
