The world lost its brightest light on Friday, November 25, 2022. Matthew LeRoy McConnell was a loving son, brother, father, husband and friend to all that knew him. Everyone that crossed paths with Matt could count on him to be there for them at any hour of the day. He would pour from an empty glass, he would feed you even if it meant his own bowl would be empty, he would give you the shirt off of his back even if it meant that he would freeze, and if he didn't have that to offer he'd give you his free time and labor without expecting anything in return.
He was always a free soul and wild child at heart. Matthew knew how to make a room light up with just his presence. Matthew knew how to live life to the fullest and never wasted the opportunity to have a good time. He had many passions but was most passionate about helping others and being there for his family. He was a hard working man who was passionate about making sure any job or favor he did was done right
Ever since he was a little boy he was busy, whether it was taking apart the tv to see how it works or climbing the book shelf to see his world from a new angle. This curiosity and sense of wonder he held never left him even until his death.
Matthew was very proud of his Irish heritage. He even found a 4 leaf clover once and coined the nickname "leprcon" from his prison family and friends. He was proud of everything that made him the man he was.
We will all miss the light and love he brought to all of us.
Matthew is survived by his parents Barbara Deuel and Lester McConnell (Debbie McConnell); his siblings Sherrell Robison, Chad McConnell, Brian McConnell (Stephanie Burr); and his children Taylor Hultquist, Dylon McConnell, Sydney McConnell, Tommy McConnell, Mackenzie Sanchez, and Lillianna Sanchez.
A celebration of life will be held Sunday, January 22, 2023 from 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. at Draper Day Barn, 1166 E Pioneer Road. The Barn is located in the Draper Park Northwest parking lot.
