Matt McGrath passed away on December 1, 2025. He is survived by his four daughters, Madeline McReynolds (Charlie), Lindsey, Caroline, and Lauren McGrath; his grandson Walter McReynolds; his brothers Jim McGrath and Con McGrath (Mary); his nephews Conor McGrath (Caitlin) and Jimmy McGrath (Laura); his nieces Catherine Luter (Jason) and Clare Weingarten (Dale). In passing, he rejoins his parents James and Theresa McGrath.

Born on November 18, 1964, Matt was a native St. Louisan. He attended St. Clement of Rome grade school and DeSmet Jesuit High School before continuing his Jesuit education at Rockhurst University in Kansas City. After graduation, he returned to his hometown of St. Louis while also spending significant time in New York City, starting his career in insurance. He later earned a Master's in Business Administration from Webster University.

The quintessential "Girl Dad," Matt loved doting on and spending quality time with his four daughters. He was no stranger to a pedicure or the odd Aperol Spritz, and attended two Taylor Swift concerts and a One Direction concert. He was always patient, never judgmental, and made the best M&M pancakes. In his daughters, he fostered a love of debate and always encouraged confidence, strength of convictions, and, most of all, instilled in them a fantastic sense of humor and enduring sense of optimism.

A friend to all and stranger to none, Matt's enduring legacy is one of laughter and friendship. He proudly maintained lifelong friendships from grade school, high school, and college, and befriended numerous business colleagues and new acquaintances throughout his life. Matt leaves us with a lifetime of laughter and memories that will endure for decades to come. We will remember him in every silly punchline, Cardinals home run, and Frank Sinatra chorus. We love you, Dad, and we'll see you again one day.

A visitation will be held for Matt at Bopp Chapel on Manchester Rd on Monday, December 8th from 4-6 pm. A funeral mass and celebration of his life will take place at St. Clement of Rome Church in Des Peres on Tuesday, December 9th at 10am. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in Matt's honor to Our Little Haven.
