Matthew was born on June 27, 1986 and passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2017. Matthew was a resident of Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania at the time of passing. Matthew was a 2004 graduate of Punxsutawney Area High School (PAHS). Following high school, Mathew graduated from the DuBois Business College with an Associate Degree in Legal Studies. He then attended the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford where he graduated with a Baccalaureate Degree in Criminal Justice. Friends and family will be received at the Brenda D. Shumaker Funeral Home in Big Run on Friday, February 10, 2017 from 2 ' 4 and 6 ' 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with Joe Buterbaugh officiating. Matthew will be interred at the Davis Cemetery, Rd Reynoldsville. A service summary is not available.

I am so sorry for your loss. May GOD comfort you all somehow. I remember him as I worked for the schools 30 years. Very nice young man. Praying they find a cure for this awful cancer.

Cheryl, Natasha, Marie and family, so sorry to learn of Matt's passing. May God Bless him and take care of him. My prayers are with you all at this time, no words can take the pain away that you are feeling right now. May God give you strength and courage and help you each and everyday. God Bless. Thoughts and prayers go out to all of Matt's loved ones and friends. I was one of Matt's instructors from DuBois Business College. While there, Matt made many friends and created great memories. I very much enjoyed having Matt in my classes; he was eager to learn and always found a way to be sure each day or each class had a little humor. I often played music when the students were working, and Matt always asked me to play Journey. I always said he was an old soul in a young man's body. So, Matt, your journey was to heaven far too soon, but I hope when you arrived they were serenading you with "Don't Stop Believing" or "Faithfully." Rest in peace, Matt.
