Matthew Eric Risley

Matthew E. Risley, 58, of Salt Springs, FL, passed away on Tuesday, September 16th, 2025, at his home residence. He was born on November 3rd, 1966, in Utica, NY, the youngest son of Orwill and Margaret Latus Risley. Matthew had worked as a truck driver for various companies throughout several years until around 2006-2007. He endured critical medical issues, which prevented him from continuing with his occupation. He was a loving father, brother, uncle, grandfather, and friend whose life was devoted to being, as he would say, "Whiskey bent, and hell bound." Matthew loved Jeff Gordon (NASCAR), cooking, Hess Trucks, and anything to do with cars throughout the years. Surviving are his children, Brandi Risley of Salt Springs, Lacey Risley of Tallahassee, Tiffany and Son-in law Brian Johnson of Sherburne, NY, and Amanda and Son-in-law Buck Mills of NY; sister and brother-in-law, Donna and Ken Rose of Little Falls; brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Janet Risley of Brookfield; Fred Risley of Utica; five grandchildren, Caden Bennett, Cameron Johnson, Avery Johnson, Buck Mills the third, and Katrina Mills; close and local family friend who was like a son, Robert Yates; several in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nieces and –nephews; as well as many special friends. A sister, Michelle Hungerford, predeceased him in 1985. Per his wishes, he was cremated on September 26th, 2025, with the intention of spreading his ashes as he saw fit. He was always a person who was rooted in being unapologetic for who he was, what he loved, and how he came across. He will be greatly missed by all of those impacted by his presence.
