I spent every free lunch in his room. I was president of the games club he ran in his last year. He taught me to play Dungeons andDragon's, something that I play vary often. He introduced me to so many games and was always there and open for his students.

When I first met Mr. Samuelson, I was a sophomore just coming back from quarantine. I had sat in the front row of the class, mainly to get out faster cause it was the closest seat to the door, but after a week or so I really enjoyed being there. We had so many fun and deep conversations. Samuelson is my biggest hero and inspiration. He is the reason I got through so many hard times and the reason I was able to graduate at all. Mr Samuelson is the reason why I am going to school to become a teacher, and a math teacher to be exact.
I am so glad I got to spend all my years of high school with him as a teacher and mentor. And I'm so sorry for all the upcoming students who don't get to meet this wonderful human. I love Samuelson as a second father and I will always have the best memories of high school in his classroom. As a Mentor, Hero, Inspiration, Teacher, Dungeon Master, and most importantly, a friend.
I love you Mr. Samuelson, may you be resting in peace and know that you have done a great job raising so many children

As a former Phoenix student, Matthew, or Samuelson as we liked to call him, left a permanent mark on my adult life. He was more than just an educator. For some like myself who had few or nobody to look up to in a father-like or authoritative role, he was our shining beacon of hope, a guiding star, someone you want to be like some day. He taught me the great values of compassion, not being afraid to ask for help, and that it's more important to do something than nothing. I regret not putting in a stronger effort to visit more frequently after graduation. He will be remembered by generations of graduates, as well as remembered by me, as my first Dungeon Master. Thank you for being such an amazing guy, Samuelson.

Matthew Samuelson Obituary
The world has lost the most amazing person. The hole this leaves in our lives will never be filled. Matt was the kindest, silliest, smartest, most loving and gentle person I've ever known. He was the one I always looked to for balance and p... Read Matthew Samuelson's Obituary
