Matthew Talbot, 70, passed away peacefully at home on November 25, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.
Matt was the son of the late George and Aileen (McGuiness) Talbot. He graduated from Mark T. Sheehan High School in Wallingford, CT, in 1973. A part-time job at the Wallingford Post began a 50-year career in printing that ended with the support of colleagues at Quad Graphics, Inc., in East Longmeadow, MA.
Matt called Stafford Springs, CT, home for 40 years, where he was a father, a grandfather (also known as "Big Fella") to his grandchildren, a good neighbor, little league coach, WHUS radio show host, music enthusiast, guitar maker, and official photographer of everyone in his life. Along with his partner, Matt was a member of the Thompsonville Moose Lodge 1525, where he spent many hours on and off the motorcycle in service to others.
Those who knew Matt remember him for his calming presence and endless kindness, and he leaves behind countless friends, neighbors and strangers who he touched with a legacy of love.
Matt is survived by his life partner, Carole Walbert, with whom he shared an easy union; his children, Katherine (Connor) Young, Matthew (Merrik) Talbot, and Carolyn (Todd) Smith, and the mother of his children, Gloria Orioles Talbot, as well as Dorothy (Kenny), Bethany, Heather, and Gina (Jimmy); his grandchildren, Charlotte, Samuel, and Baby Talbot, as well as McKenzie, Gavin, Tori, Maggie, and Ryan; his brothers and sisters, Tom, Mary Elizabeth (Rick), Ellen, and George; his nieces; and countless friends and neighbors.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, from 3:00pm to 6:00pm at Introvigne Funeral Home, Inc., 51 East Main St., Stafford Springs, CT. A service will follow at 6:00pm and all are welcome to attend. The family requests that donations be made to Moose Charities, Inc.
