Matthew was born on September 15, 1986 to Michael and Kim Thornton in Anaheim, California. He grew up in Cedar Hill, Texas, where he attended West Intermediate, Permenter Middle School and then went on to attend Cedar Hill High School.
If you knew Matt, you know he was a very headstrong, self-motivated, driven person. If he wanted to do something, he was going to do it. If he wanted something, he was going to get it.
Despite all the hardships life would throw his way, Matt always made light of any situation with his positive attitude and his infectious smile. His love and compassion for this world and everything in it was so big. Matt loved everything and everybody with his whole heart. Matt would of given the shirt off his back, the shoes on his feet, the water from his water bottle, even if that was all he had.
In his free time, Matt enjoyed playing baseball, golfing, riding four wheelers and spending time with his dogs, his kids, family and friends.
Matthew is preceded in death by his father, Michael Thornton. He is survived by his mother, Kim Thornton, his siblings, Amanda Reinecke and Brian Thornton, his children Gracelynn Thornton, Sadie Schilb, Aaron Shipman and Brooklyn Shipman. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held on Friday, September 20th at 12:30 PM at St. Rita Catholic Church in Dallas, Texas.
Rest in peace, Matthew Arthur. We promise to hold you and your memories close to our hearts.

Oh Matthew,
My best memory was knowing you. And I didn´t get to say goodbye. How lucky am I for getting the opportunity to love someone that makes saying goodbye so hard. Your leaving this world left a gaping hole in my heart that I will have no choice but fill with honoring the memories of joy and love we shared. You were the light of life. And your love will always shine bright. Until we meet again handsome man, you´re an Angel.
