Matthew Richard "Matt" Tullis

I was devastated to hear of the passing of Matt. He was my professor for several classes as well as my academic advisor, and played a big part in the reason I chose to major in journalism. After reading his obituary, I just wanted to say how accurate it is. He was such a great man who was always kind, humble, and passionate in everything he did. I even remember over the summer, when he sponsored me for an internship, how we would meet on Zoom and he would rave about how proud he was of his family, especially his son, who was starting college in the fall. He was such a great person, and even only knowing him through school, I feel tremendous pride to have known someone so accomplished but more importantly, so impactful on the lives of all those he met, even briefly. I am heartbroken for his family, and I send my deepest condolences - I'll keep you all in my prayers.

Professor Tullis made going to class easy and learning fun - I took his class any chance I could. He has made an everlasting impact on my life. I am so saddened by his loss. My condolences go out to his entire family. Sending lots of love.

Dear Alyssa and the Tullis Family, I am very sorry for the loss of Matt. His infectious enthusiasm for all that he did touched many in the Fairfield University community. Matt also had a generous spirit; always willing to help out whenever asked. He will be greatly missed and remembered fondly. Peace and blessings to you all.

To Mrs. Tullis and family, my prayers and thoughts are with you. Matt was my friend and mentor at Fairfield University. I would not be a Digital Journalism major and pursuing my dreams if it weren't for his support and care. He will be deeply missed.

Dearest Alyssa and the entire Tullis family. Dandi and I are so incredibly sorry. I can only imagine the pain you´re in. The world is seriously diminished with Matt gone. He was a force of nature, always emanating goodness and hope and kindness and love, as you know. I think Matt awed us all by his love of family. The way he lived his life inspired you to dream. He enriched the lives of anybody fortunate enough to have known him. And what a warrior. He conquered cancer, and then had enough heart and talent and courage to share his story of triumph. Matt sat in the front row in the first writing class I ever taught at AU. His smile and openness and welcoming spirit let me know I´d be ok. Years later Matt became a colleague, a collaborator, a friend. Matt Tullis was as good as they come. I will miss him forever.
