Matthew Wildermuth Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Messinger Mortuaries- Indian School Mortuary on Sep. 25, 2024.
Matthew Wildermuth, 60, of Scottsdale, Arizona, passed away peacefully due to an undetected heart condition on September 21, 2024. Born on June 2, 1964, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Matthew was the youngest of four children of Robert and Joanne Wildermuth. He graduated from South Side High School in Fort Wayne before earning a bachelor's degree in political science from Indiana University and later, a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from Indiana University. A highly respected attorney and an incredible writer, Matthew was nominated as a super lawyer for many years and was a proud member of both the Illinois and Arizona Bar.
He is survived by his wife Marjorie, daughters Alexa (Josh) Doerr, Kendall, and Jordan, son Carson, granddaughter Ellie, sister Kathy Wildermuth, and brother Mark Wildermuth, and brother-in-law Bill Golis. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Julie Wildermuth Baker.
In 1990, Matthew married his beloved wife Marjorie, with whom he shared 34 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they were blessed with four children, and he cherished every moment spent with his family, especially his granddaughter, Ellie, and his sidekicks, Comet and Flash (his lab).
Matthew's life was a tapestry of passions and interests. He found joy in soccer, basketball, biking, walking Comet, blues music, writing, teaching, volleyball, grilling, fantasy football, his Fort Wayne Glazome gashers, irresponsibly launching water balloons and fireworks, throwing grapes at his children, driving his car down the golf course with his kids, and tackling any project that required building or fixing. He was renowned for creativity and his trivia expertise as it seemed like there was never a random fact he didn't know.
Matthew will be remembered for his patient, kind, and giving heart, as well as being the life of the party. His loving manner touched everyone he met, but most importantly, he was devoted to his family. He was a hands-on dad and husband, always had the right words to say for the emergency calls, ready to fix anything from a light bulb to a heartbreak, and left nothing on the table in the giving department. His happiest moments were being fully present in the day-to-day moments with his family. He made the typical mundane life routine more fun (i.e. making drives to soccer chaotic and memorable, scraping Uhaul trucks in the parking garage during college moves, horsing around in the pool, and somehow making furniture assembly fun). His dedication extended beyond his family; he started his own law firm and selflessly provided legal services to friends, family, and those in need.
A memorial service will be held at Messinger Indian School Mortuary on Friday, September 27th, at 12 PM, with visitation starting at 11 AM. Matthew's brother, Reverend Mark Wildermuth, will officiate the Lutheran service in honor of Matthew. Please share a toast with your family or donate to your charity of choice in his honor.
Matthew's legacy of love, kindness, and dedication will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Finally, Matthew left a lasting impression on everyone he met: " Everyone has a story about Mr. Wilde." We'd love for you to share a story below.
