Matthew A. Wilkinson, age 28, passed away on August 31, 2025. Matt is the beloved son of Hugh and Bernadette Wilkinson. He is the loving brother of Vincent Viola and his spouse Maura, Pamela Wilkinson and her spouse Blake Goetchius, Daniel Wilkinson, Kevin Wilkinson and his dear grandparents Joseph and Roseann Dilullo and Pamela Wilkinson. He is the loving partner of Laura Stanton. Also surviving are many aunts, uncles and cousins; as well as his beloved godson Kaeden Viola, niece Kairi Viola, and nephew Lucas Viola.

Matthew grew up in Abington, PA, where he spent his entire childhood and young adult life. He graduated from Archbishop Wood Catholic High School before heading off to Penn State University, where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics. During his time at Penn State, Matt was deeply involved in the Arnold Air Society and the Air Force ROTC, committed through all four years and proud of every minute.

After college, Matt's journey with the United States Air Force took him all across the Southwestern United States before he eventually made his home in New Mexico. While serving, he earned his pilot's license and rose to the rank of Captain in the Third Special Operations Squadron. Matt had a knack for excelling at everything he put his mind to; driven, focused, and endlessly capable.

Matthew was deeply loved in every chapter of his life. He had the rare gift of making people feel like family; he was a son to many, and a true friend to everyone he met. He always looked happiest when playing with his niece and nephews or hanging out with his family.

His pride and joy were his two dogs, Aster and Apollo, who were constant companions and partners in crime. Matt also had a passion for cars, particularly his Subaru which he spent countless hours modifying and perfecting, pushing the limits on the open roads. On any given day, you might find Matt at the gym, deep into a card game/video game, or enjoying a visit to the casino with friends. But above all, Matt had a true love for karaoke and music of every kind, from country ballads to hip hop anthems. He never turned down a chance to sing.

Relatives and friends are invited to share in Matt's Life Celebration Monday September 8th at Freed-Givnish of Glenside, 124 N Easton Rd. Glenside, PA 19037 from 6:00-8:30 PM and to participate in his funeral mass Tuesday September 9th starting 10:00 AM at Our Lady Help of Christians, 1500 Marian Rd. Abington, PA 19001.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Matt's memory to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (afsp.org) or Stop Soldier Suicide (stopsoldiersuicide.org) would be appreciated by his family.
