I am so deeply saddened to learn of Matthew´s tragic passing, and heartbroken for his family. I will always remember his giant smile and kind spirit. My thoughts are with his loving mother.

I'm so sorry to hear of Matthew's loss. He was a lovely young man and a delight to converse with.

One of my last interactions I had with Matt I told him, "I can honestly say I have never heard you speak anything negative towards someone, including me, and I can´t say that about a lot of people," and his response was, "Why be mean to someone?"
That alone I feel like speaks volumes as to who Matt truly was.
Matt, you will always be known to me as one of the nicest young men I had the pleasure of meeting during my time teaching! Your smile and personality had the ability to make a whole room shine, a rare quality desired by many! You will be greatly missed by everyone that had the pleasure of knowing you! Rest peacefully and watch over those that loved you most!

You were a pleasure to have in class. The good days and the tough days.

I remember your first day in my classroom was rough but you came back the next day and we talked man to man and figured things out. We then bonded over our favorite hero, the Batman, and not long after you began to open up more and more, befriending every student I had in my room.

Every day got better and you participated in class more and more. Whenever you would fall behind, you would approach me on how to do better. You always bounced back. That's how I will always remember you.

You became a major part of my life as a younger teacher and I watched you touch the lives of several others. Rest in peace Matthew. Until we meet again.
