Mattie Sue passed away Saturday, August 16, 2025, at home with her loving husband. Born in Gainesboro, she attended high school in Cookeville, Tennessee. After moving to Nashville in 1966, Mattie Sue worked in advertising for over 30 years and retired from Brown-Evins Media Services. Mattie Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Frazier and Zelma Moss, and siblings, James Moss, Margaret Tarpley, Mildred Neal, Mary Baldwin, Rebecca Cantrell, and Robert Moss. Survivors include her husband, William Powell, daughter, Michelle Nicholson (David), and grandchildren, Jackson (Amber), Mattison, Benjamin, and many loving nieces and nephews and lifelong friends. Mattie Sue enjoyed listening to music, watching old Westerns, going to concerts, and was an avid sports fan cheering on the Nashville Predators and the Tennessee Volunteers, along with spending time with her immediate and large extended family and friends. She had a great sense of humor and an infectious laugh that brought smiles to everyone. A celebration of life will be held in Nashville on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at Antioch Church of Christ, 2142 Antioch Pike, from 1 p.m. - 6 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall.
