CLAXTON: Mattie Ann Johnson Price, 86, passed away March 10, 2026, at Ogeechee Area Hospice in Statesboro, Georgia. She was born September 5, 1939, in Glascock County, Georgia, to Ed and Lizzie Johnson. Ann was the Fifth child of eight children growing up on the family farm. After graduating high school, she began working at the hospital in Sandersville in the lab and radiology departments, where she met and married Eston Price, Jr. Ann built and managed Tennille Retirement Home in Tennille, Georgia. She was a member of First Baptist Church Claxton, where she served in the choir and taught the AMOS Sunday School Class for many years. Ann was active in the Evans-Tattnall Baptist Association, as well as being a part of several mission trips.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Eston E. Price, Jr.; parents, Ed and Lizzie Johnson; brothers, Gene, Glynn, and Everette Johnson; sisters, Margart Wilcher, Eunice Wilcher, and Ollie Cooper; and niece, Shirley Tollison.
SURVIVORS: daughter, Holly and Earl Hutto of Oconee, Georgia; son Trey and Jenny Price of Claxton, Georgia; grandchildren Evan and Kirsten Hutto of Statesboro, Georgia, Melissa Morgan of Claxton, Georgia, Anslee and Auston Peel of Millen, Georgia and Walter and Mallori Price of Pembroke, Georgia; great grandchildren, Kearstin, Landon, Peyton, Eli, Savannah and Cannon; sister Geneva Kitchens of Gibson, Georgia, and several nieces and nephews.
