Matula Pavlakos

Matula Pavlakos, 89, of Perth Amboy, NJ passed away on November 24, 2025. Matula was born in Magoula, Sparta, Greece on March 15, 1936. After moving to Perth Amboy in 1955, Matula met her husband Paul, whom she married in 1956 and with whom she forged a legacy of loving family spanning multiple generations. Matula was a kind, generous, and respected individual in the community for 70 years. She worked for 30 years as a seamstress at Phoenix Fashion and Schott Brothers and was a dedicated parishioner and Philoptochos member at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church.

She was preceded in death on May 17, 1998, by her husband, Paul Stephen Pavlakos, and her siblings – Peter Karounos, Connie Kishyk , Anastasios Karounos, and Toula Beratis.

She is survived by her sister Zafiro Filindras; her son Stephen (Patricia) Pavlakos; her four grandchildren Samantha (Ken) Westberg, Marissa (Bishara) Asfour, Paul (Demi) Pavlakos, and Barbara Pavlakos; and seven great-grandchildren Paul Joseph ("PJ"), Lillian, Sophia, Chrisanna, Konstantinos, Melina, and Theodore.

Visitation will take place on Sunday, November 30, 2025, from 1:00-5:00 PM at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 424 East Avenue, Perth Amboy, NJ 08861. Funeral Services will be held at the Funeral Home on Monday, December 1, 2025, at 9:30 AM. Followed by a Liturgy at 11:00 AM at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, Perth Amboy. Interment will follow in Alpine Cemetery.
