Maureen was very kind to take the time to meet and sign an autograph for my daughter Judy when we came there in 1997 to present the Ridin Misty song for the Chincoteague Pony Festival. She will be missed forever by Misty fans.

Our hearts are saddened for the loss of your dearly beloved Mother. May the God of tender mercies and all comfort be with you all during this most difficult time and in the days to come. Please know that the love your dearly beloved Mother had for you all will forever remain in your hearts!

I would like to express my deepest sympathies for the loss of your loved one, who will be remembered for her contribution to the literary arts. May you find comfort and strength in God during this time of mourning.

I lived near Chincoteague when I was a toddler with my parents, my father was stationed at a Navy base nearby. I dont believe it still exists. I remember going to see the island and my mother reading the book to me during those years. It always held a special place in my heart.
I just lost my Dad this past December, and now seeing that Ms. Beebe has passed, I feel that chapter of my life belongs to the ages, but will always remain in my heart.

She will be mourned and forever held tenderly in the memories of generations of horse lovers. I had the privilege of meeting her daughter Zebie at the gallery she had in town, where I was fortunate enough to purchase a signed Wesley Dennis of two Chincoteague foals gamboling along a beach. May Ms. Beebe's spirit soar just as joyfully now.

Maureen and Paul became part of my life from the first time I read Misty of Chincoteague. Even though much of the story was romanticized, it gave my family the motivation to visit Chincoteague, pony penning, and even Misty. The Beebe Family represented the Islanders whose honest spirit and hospitality make Chincoteague a great place.

To all who loved and cared for Maureen, may you receive the love and support needed to sustain your grief and may the God of all comfort be with you.

Your writing of Misty was a huge favorite of mine and then became a favorite of my daughter. She ended up with all your books being such a horse lover. Thank you for writing these wonderful stories and all the joy you gave us. Rest in peace. Deepest condolences to family and friends.
